Showcase Tournament Mission
Greg Sayuk - Tournament Founder & Coordinator
Thank you for your interest in the Minnesota High School Showcase Volleyball Tournaments!
Since 2008, I have organized this event, where we bring in the top class A and AA schools from all over the state. In 2012, we moved the tournament - from the Bethel University Sports & Rec Center and it was strictly a class A event - to the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville, where we introduced the inaugural AA Showcase Tournament. In 2024, class AAA and AAAA divisions will be added.
There are three primary purposes for this tournament. First, I would like to provide a highly competitive tournament for high quality, small school programs. Second, the State Tournament began seeding teams in 2008. It had been difficult for coaches to know exactly how the teams from different corners of the state match up with one another if they never play against each other. However, the Class A & AA Showcase has proven to be instrumental in smoothing out this process.
The third reason for hosting this tournament is that I have a passion for helping high school athletes maximize their talents, and continue their athletic careers into college, if at all possible. As a teacher and former coach at a small high school, I know that not all players play volleyball during the club season, as many of them play basketball and softball. The truth is that unless an athlete's family can afford to have their player participate in elite club volleyball, they likely won't be seen by college coaches. The Showcase has had coaches from over 40 different colleges in attendance over its first several years. To date, we have had over 100 scholarship athletes, plus countless Division III and NAIA players participate in the Showcase.
The Showcase Tournament staff looks forward to providing great competition for high school volleyball programs for many years to come!
